The bible says
for to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on “His”
shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting
Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6) states that
Jesus’ name would be peace. The
angels proclaimed that Yahweh would bring peace to men through Jesus. “Immediately
a considerable organization of the Beautiful Heavenly Host appeared with an
angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace to men on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:13, 14) Oh how we need peace! We
need peace in our nation, without and within. We need peace in our homes, Jobs,
schools, peace in our government and in our own hearts. This peace “God” can
only provide for us. If we have peace with God we can also have peace in the
midst of our hardships and circumstances by resting in the knowledge that “He”
is in control. John (14:27) states that Jesus says “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you
as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. “His” peace is an everlasting peace that is forever. It’s time for people to be allowed to say what they want to say. With
that said “John F. Kennedy once said change is the law of life. And those who
look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.” In other
words, “know justice know peace.”
Oh
Most Holy High God, how we need “Your” peace in this nation. Help us not to be trouble
minded or afraid by the uncertainty in our world, but to rest in the knowledge
that Jesus has brought us peace with “You.” For, I am a prisoner of, “Your”
hope. “Martin Luther King Jr. stated that the arc of the moral universe is
long but it bends toward justice. No one is above the law for “Your” word says
so. In (Proverbs 28:7) The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding, but a companion of gluttons shames his Father. Amen.
